2011 GMC Yukon

7:12 AM grety No comments

The Yukon and Yukon XL family of full-size SUVs continues to offer an uncompromising package of capability, comfort and refinement. They offer distinctive styling, spacious and refined interiors, exceptional driving characteristics and segment-leading safety features – including standard head curtain side air bags for all seating rows on all models.

Pricing: car pricing will be officially released prior to its release in the middle of 2010. Prices should be slightly above the current amounts of $38,020 MSRP and S35,359 invoice for the base model. Fuel economy: since no major changes are expected for the new model year, the 2011 GMC Yukon’s fuel economy should remain the same, at 14 mpg city/20 mpg highway for the two-wheel drive version, and 12 mpg city/19 mpg highway for the all-wheel drive version.
INTERIOR
The Yukon and Yukon XL are available in two trim levels: SLE (cloth) and SLT (leather). Both feature a spacious and refined environment, thanks to a premium tone-on-tone color scheme and a lower-positioned instrument panel. A third-row seat is standard on all Yukon models.

Sculpted seat designs and detailed trim affirm the vehicles' craftsmanship, which is bolstered by optional amenities such as heated seats for first- and second-row passengers. Also, the front seats offer plenty of fore/aft and recline travel, and the second-row seats have a comfortable angle for the seatback recline.

Craftsmanship is seen in unexpected areas, such as distinctive sill plates that greet occupants when the doors are opened, and there are no exposed fasteners or hardware on the pillars, seats or seat tracks. The seats have 'close-outs' that surround the seat bottoms and seat tracks, creating a more finished appearance. The undersides of the seats are covered, too, when folded.

The Yukon and Yukon XL also offer an industry-exclusive power fold-and-tumble second-row seat feature that eases access to the third-row seat. The power fold-and-tumble second-row seats feature release buttons accessible by the driver on the overhead console or on the interior C-pillar to provide an easy, immediate release of the seat and an access path to the third-row seat or cargo area.

Yukon and Yukon XL interiors are versatile, too. The third-row seats fold flat and are easily tumbled forward or removed for maximum cargo area. Also, the center console storage compartment, at 20.1 liters of capacity, is the segment's largest. The glove box offers significant storage space, too, and features damped opening operation that bolsters quietness and refinement.

 EXTERIOR
The exterior of the 2011 GMC Yukon should carry over unchanged for the new model year. All models should come with heated side mirrors, roof rails, halogen headlights, and a rear step bumper. Upgraded trims offer different features, such as different wheels, a unique grille, power liftgate, and a sunroof.
Interior Features

The interior of the 2011 GMC Yukon should carry over unchanged for the new model year, although minor alterations to what features go with which trim levels could be made. Basic models should come with two-zone temperature control, steering-wheel mounted audio controls, OnStar, a three passenger bench seat with 40/20/40 split, and an audio system that has a CD player, mp3 compatibility, satellite radio, and a USB port. Upgraded trims should offer features like remote vehicle start, parking assist with a rearview camera, an upgraded Bose sound system, navigation, and heated and cooled front seats. Optional features that will be available on some models include blind spot warning and rear seat entertainment.

The 2011 Yukon has a well-designed interior that will make driver and passengers feel pampered and elegant inside this large SUV. In the front, the console is located centrally between bucket seats. The dashboard is outstanding with a highly-intuitive arrangement that beats out many higher-priced competitors. The top line Denali has a wood and leather covered steering wheel, and all models use leather to create an elegant feel. The powered driver’s seat is adjustable in six modes, and the driver has an excellent field of vision through the windshield. Indeed, the drive has a good 360 degree vision with large side mirrors. The front seats in most models allow the cushions to be adjusted electronically, but with manual reclining.

ENGINE
New for the latest generation is standard stability control and a six-speed automatic for the heavier-duty 3/4-ton models and standard side curtain air bags across the range.

The 4.8-liter V8 available on the shorty Yukon is nowhere to be found here, replaced by the 5.3-liter V8 as standard equipment on the 1/2-ton models, and a 6.0-liter V8 on the 3/4-ton models.

Power is rated at 320 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 335 lb-ft at 4,200 rpm for the 5.3-liter V8. This engine is partnered with a six-speed automatic transmission. The combo returns 15 mpg on the EPA's city cycle, and 21 mpg on the highway.

The first optional engine (standard on 3/4-ton models) is a 6.0-liter V8 with variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management that makes 352 hp at 5,500 rpm and 382 lb-ft at 4,300 rpm and is available as a standalone option on the SLT trims of the half-ton XL.

The final optional engine is a 6.2-liter V8 that cranks out 395 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque. This engine will return 12 city and 19 highway on two-wheel drive vehicles - and is not available in four-wheel drive configurations.

The half-ton XLs are able to tow a maximum of 7,200 lbs in 2WD guise, while the 3/4-ton variants can manage up to 8,600 pounds in either two- or four-wheel drive models.
SAFETY
car safety features should carry over unchanged for 2011. 2011 GMC Yukon safety features include OnStar, antilock brakes, side airbags in the front seat, and head curtain airbags with a rollover sensor. An blind spot warning system should be available as an option.
Suspension: suspension smooths out bumps in the pavement
Warranty: three-year/36,000 mile basic warranty; five-year/100,000 mile powertrain and roadside assistance warranties; six-year/100,000 mile corrosion warranty.
